There's still no word on when Hole will release their next album, but fans will be able to get plenty of frontwoman Courtney Love on the silver screen. The singer and actress has signed on to play showgirl and actress Texas Guinan in "Hello Suckers," according to Reuters. The role is a fitting one for the flamboyant, outspoken Love Guinan was one of New York City's great characters of the 1920s, reinventing herself (and her past) to land roles on Broadway. She also ran a popular speakeasy during Prohibition, regaling patrons with bawdy banter and raunchy songs. Guinan toured with her burlesque revue until her death in 1933.
Love is also starring in "Julie Johnson," in which she'll play the love interest of Lili Taylor, who plays a disenchanted New Jersey housewife. The film is set for release next fall, Reuters reported.
Love told an audience at the Rockrgrl Music Conference in Seattle last month that she still hasn't found a replacement for former Hole bassist Melissa Auf Der Maur, who left the group in 1999.
