Dat Nigga Daz A.K.A. Daz Dillinger

While perhaps best known as a charter member of his cousin Snoop Doggy Dogg's Dogg Pound posse, Daz Dillinger (also known as Dat Nigga Daz) has contributed to numerous rap projects since then and released a solo LP.

Dillinger was born Delmar Arnaud on May 25, 1973. The rapper first rose to prominence in the rap community as a member of Tha Dogg Pound, along with Ricardo Brown, a.k.a. Kurupt the Kingpin.

Tha Dogg Pound debuted on Snoop Doggy Dogg's first effort, the #1

Doggystyle, which was released on Dr. Dre's Death Row Records in 1993. They were subsequently featured on many of the label's releases, some of which they produced.

Tha Dogg Pound issued their own debut, the platinum-plus-selling Dogg Food, two years later. Showcasing their cocky brand of

synthesizer-heavy gangsta-funk rap, it featured such cuts as "Dogg

Pound Gangstaz," "Ridin', Slipin' and Slidin'," "I Don't Like to Dream

About Gettin' Paid" (featuring Nate Dogg) and "A Doggz Day Afternoon."

Daz and Kurupt split in 1997. The following year Daz issued his solo

debut, Retaliation, Revenge and Get Back, featuring cuts such

as "It Might Sound Crazy" (RealAudio excerpt) and "Thank God for My Life." Daz also appeared on Kurupt's Kuruption (1998) and Tha Streetz Iz a Mutha (1999).

In addition to his own recordings, Daz has contributed to releases by Nate Dogg, Tupac Shakur, Warren G, TQ, Whoridas, MC Eiht and others. His also contributed songs to the soundtracks of two films, "Gang Related" and "Gridlock'd."

This year, Daz guested on new tracks from Snoop Dogg — The Death Row Years.

Other birthdays Thursday: Lauryn Hill, 25.
