D'Angelo Felled Again By Throat Infection

R&B singer cancels Toronto show, plans to stay off road till July.

A chronic throat infection again has silenced D'Angelo, at least for a few days.

The singer had to cancel a show in Toronto on Friday after a doctor ordered him not to speak for several days, according to a spokesperson for the singer's label. The concert had been postponed from March 29, when D'Angelo canceled six dates because of bronchitis. There are no plans to reschedule again.

As of Friday, it was unclear whether D'Angelo still planned to perform Sunday in Greensboro, N.C., and Tuesday in Charlotte, N.C. The spokesperson had no further information on the singer's illness.

The singer's tour has been plagued by illness-related cancellations and rescheduled shows, beginning with a March 17 concert at Radio City Music Hall in New York. D'Angelo then canceled a string of dates at the end of March, when he was diagnosed with bronchitis.

The singer will stay off the road for the rest of May and June. He'll resume touring July 4 at the Summerfest music festival in Milwaukee.

D'Angelo's second album, Voodoo, released in January, has gone platinum. His latest single, the slow jam "Untitled (How Does it Feel)" (RealAudio excerpt), is #25 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.
