Master P Gets Krazy

As an excuse to put out another album, Master P corralled his labelmates to form a New Orleans supergroup called 504 Boyz. The group consists of Master P, his two brothers C-Murder and Silkk the Shocker (who also make up the group Tru), Mystikal and newcomer Krazy. No Limit fans will not be disappointed — as with other No Limit releases, Goodfellas features all the rappers on the label, making it another family affair.

The only surprise with this outing is the introduction of No Limit's newest soldier, Krazy. The rapper is prominent on 10 tracks, including "Roll, Roll" (RealAudio excerpt) and the lead-off single and newest ghetto anthem, "Wobble Wobble" (RealAudio excerpt). Sounding curiously like the late Tupac, in both voice and delivery, Krazy is bound to gain fans and detractors. Krazy's most Tupac-esque offering resides in the straight thuggin' track, "We Bust," featuring Krazy, Silkk, and the Ghetto Commission.

"Check 'Em" features rapper Baby Girl and Master P in a modern-day ghetto battle of the sexes. Baby Girl's rap style and sound is akin to another up-and-coming bad girl, Miami native Trina. One other standout, the radio-friendly "If You Real, Keep It Real," features Master P and Silkk, with a chorus spring-boarding from Debra Laws' "Free."

But for the most part, Master P maintains an "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" ideal on Goodfellas. Without the help of Krazy, the album is a "been there, done that" scenario.
