Jodeci's K-Ci Guests On Calvin Richardson Single

Ex-New Jack Swing singer and R&B singer went to high school together in North Carolina.

Defunct New Jack swingers Jodeci's K-Ci Hailey is back on the airwaves with a vocal appearance on the new single from R&B singer Calvin Richardson, according to MTV News Online.

The two duet on "I'll Take Her" (RealAudio excerpt), from Richardson's debut album, Country Boy, which was released last year. The song comes from two old friends who grew up together in Monroe, N.C., Richardson said recently.

"I grew up with [brothers] K-Ci (born Cedric Hailey) and JoJo (born Joel Hailey) in the singing game," Richardson said. "Actually, we kinda met in high school. They had moved away to Baltimore when they was younger, and they came back freshman year in high school. And we hooked up there, and we been down ever since.

"We actually had a group together. It was actually K-Ci's group, and I joined the group, and we sang for a number of years together before they did the Jodeci thing."

The group was known as Little Cedric and the Hailey Singers.

Country Boy also features contributions from Monifah, Naughty by Nature's Kay Gee and Chico DeBarge.
