Billy Bob’s Texas Hits With Merle Haggard Album

Fort Worth, Texas, honky-tonk starts own record label.

The Texas nightclub that bills itself as the world’s largest honky-tonk is charting with its first album release, Live at Billy Bob’s Texas: Merle Haggard.

This is Haggard‘s first album on the Live at Billy Bob’s label, and it includes the track “Big City” (RealAudio excerpt). To promote the album, which is at #61 on the Billboard Top Country album chart, Haggard made a video for its first single, “Motorcycle Cowboy/Blue Yodel #13.”

The series of live Billy Bob albums is produced by Smith Music Group and recorded at the huge Fort Worth nightclub. Also available on the label are albums by John Conlee, Pat Green, Moe and Joe (Moe Bandy and Joe Stampley), Lynn Anderson, Eddy Raven, Roy Clark and Janie Fricke. Smith Music Group will produce six to 10 albums a year from the club for the next decade.

The albums are distributed throughout North America by Razor & Tie/ BMG.
