Eagles, Poco Alumni Join Salute To Gene Clark

Bernie Leadon and Rusty Young are on roster of gig honoring late Byrds member.

Bernie Leadon, a founding member of the Eagles, and Rusty Young, from Poco have been added to the lineup for Wednesday's musicians' tribute in Nashville to founding Byrds member Gene Clark.

The two join a roster that includes Walter Egan, Kim Richey, Andrew Gold, George Hamilton V, Greg Trooper, Bob Delevante, Webb Wilder, Mavericks' Robert Reynolds and Tommy Womack.

Nashville musician Bill Lloyd organized the tribute because he said he feels that Clark, who wrote or co-wrote such epochal Byrds hits as the psychedelic folk-rock classic "Eight Miles High" (RealAudio excerpt), has never received the credit he deserved. Also this week, independent label Not Lame Recordings issues a two-CD compilation honoring Clark, who died in 1991. Tribute to Gene Clark features some of the aforementioned artists, with the Kennedys, the Shazam, John Jorgenson and others.
