Singer Meshell Ndegeocello will take her funky soul ambience on a two-week club tour.
Beginning April 28 in Norfolk, Va., the tour will cover the eastern U.S., hitting Atlanta, Nashville and Washington, D.C., among other cities, before wrapping May 13 in Philadelphia.
Ndegeocello's most recent album, Bitter, was released in August. The album features several songs with sophisticated string arrangements that set evocative moods, such as "May This Be Love" (RealAudio excerpt).
Ndegeocello is known for her bass playing and expressive vocal stylings. Her live performances should have some surprises in store:
"I take a lot of liberties with the songs on my albums, because there's no point in playing live if you just sound like your albums," she said recently.
