Music for Airports

Krishna Das is one of those Americans who at a certain point in his life felt compelled to sell his belongings and move to India. Das subsequently returned home, where he apparently makes a very good living traveling about the country, chanting Hindi verses accompanied by harmonium and tabla. On this live two-CD album (yes, there can be too much of a good thing) Das sings such airport classics as "Hare Krishna" (RealAudio excerpt) and several other devotional hits. Sometimes the call-and-response verses ascend to a passionate peak; other times they drift by as slowly and timelessly as a summer river.
