Afro-Celt Sound System Top First WOMAD Festival

Joan Armatrading, Transglobal Underground also slated for first of 10 concert sites.

Now in its 18th year, the World of Music, Arts and Dance festival will present all-star lineups of international acts to audiences at 10 festival sites around the world starting in April.

Stars of the opening festival, scheduled for April 1–2 in Benoni, near Johannesburg, South Africa, include the Afro-Celt Sound System, Joan Armatrading, Transglobal Underground, Jamaica's Ernest Ranglin, Ireland's Andy White, the Chinese duo Wu and Wang, India's Ranbir Kaur and Argentina's Barbara Luna. Much of the program consists of such South African performers as Fetish, Gloria Bosman, Joi, Moses Taiwa Molelekwa and Tananas.
