Donner Party Re-Release Complete Recordings

Two-CD set also includes unreleased third album, live material.

Before he gained critical acclaim in the indie-pop duo Quasi, Sam Coomes headed late '80s outfit the Donner Party. The band's entire catalog, along with a bevy of unreleased tracks, was recently reissued by Innerstate Records, the label said.

The 53-song, double-disc The Complete Recordings 1987–1989 includes the San Francisco's trio's two self-titled albums, along with an unissued third album, plus live tracks. The set marks the first time any of the material has been issued on CD.

In addition to Coomes, the sometimes folky, sometimes noisy band also included drummer Melanie Clarin (SF Seals) and bassist Reinhold Johnson.

The lineup will reunite for an April 12 show at Slim's in San Francisco.
