Kronos Quartet's Caravan On The Way

Album is group's first with cellist Jennifer Culp.

The Kronos Quartet take yet another musical journey on their upcoming album, Kronos Caravan.

The set, which comes out on April 18, is the group's first with cellist Jennifer Culp. While the Kronos lineup is new, the quartet's roving musical interests are still on display.

Pieces in the all-premiere album range from the Gypsy-inspired themes of "Turceasca" to the Indian-inflected "Aaj Ki Raat" and a version of surf-guitar godfather Dick Dale's Armenian-derived "Misirlou Twist."

The Kronos Quartet will embark on the U.S. leg of their Tonight Is the Night tour in May.

Kronos Quartet tour dates:

May 3; Iowa City, Iowa; Hancher Auditorium

May 7; Berkeley, Calif.; Zellerbach Auditorium

May 9; Irvine, Calif.; Irvine Barclay Theater

May 13; New York, N.Y.; St. Ignatius Church
