Pharcyde And Mos Def To Perform At Breast Cancer Benefit

Rappers to help raise funds at mid-April Snowboarding and Music Festival.

Rappers Del the Funky Homosapien, the Pharcyde and Mos Def are among the artists scheduled to perform during the fifth Boarding for Breast Cancer Snowboarding and Music Festival on April 15 at the Sierra at Tahoe ski resort in Twin Bridges, Calif.

Amy Cappa, the event coordinator, said the performances will take place as amateur and professional snowboarders compete for prizes. Exhibitions featuring snowboarders and a fund-raising raffle and auction also will be held, she said.

The politically charged Mos Def released his solo debut, Black on Both Sides, in the fall; it included "Ms. Fat Booty" (RealAudio excerpt). The Pharcyde, known for their psychedelic beats, released the EP Chapter One: Testing the Waters in February. Del the Funky Homosapien, who contributed the abstract, freestyle rap "Magnetizing" to Handsome Boy Modeling School's So — How's Your Girl? last year, will release his next album, Both Sides of the Brain, on April 11.

Tickets for the festival cost $27 without a lift pass and $42 including a pass. Tickets can be purchased through BassTickets.com (www.basstickets.com). The proceeds from the festival will be distributed to breast cancer research organizations across the country, Cappa said.
