Hard-rock bands and tattoo artists will team up for the summer Tattoo
the Earth tour, whose main stage will feature masked industrial-metal
band Slipknot, Los Angeles rockers
Coal Chamber and Atlanta hard-rockers
A festival village will serve as a showcase and studio for top-notch
tattoo artists including Paul Booth, Hanky Panky and Sean Vasquez, whose
appointment books are often filled two years in advance. A festival
spokesperson said fans may be able to make advance appointments at the
festival's Web site (www.tattootheearth.com). The vending area also
will include body painting and piercing and henna artists.
Promoters say that the pairing of tattoos and hard rock embodies the
spirit of youth counterculture. Still in the planning stages, the tour
is expected to include 30 dates at racetracks, fields and fairgrounds,
beginning in mid- to late July.
