Country's LeAnn Rimes Returns To Pop Radio

Teen singer hits with song from CBS miniseries "Jesus."

NASHVILLE — Country singer LeAnn Rimes' single from a new soundtrack is an early pop radio hit.

In its first week of release, "I Need You" (RealAudio excerpt), from the soundtrack album to the forthcoming CBS-TV miniseries "Jesus," gained adds at 67 adult-contemporary radio stations. That makes the single the most added in that radio format this year.

"When I first got the song, I fell in love with the message of it," Rimes said. "It's probably one of my favorite songs I've ever done."

Rimes has crossed from country to pop before, most notably with "How Do I Live" in 1997.

Rimes and 10 other artists, including country group Lonestar, contributed newly recorded songs to the soundtrack album, set for release Tuesday (March 28).
