U.N.K.L.E.'s James Lavelle Doing Soundtrack

New tracks more rock-oriented than those on Psyence Fiction.

Mo Wax Records founder James Lavelle has contributed eight songs to the soundtrack of "Sexy Beast," a film starring Ben Kingsley that is due in the fall.

Using his longtime recording alias U.N.K.L.E., Lavelle worked with the British band South on the tracks.

In 1998 he collaborated with DJ Shadow on U.N.K.L.E.'s star-studded hip-hop album Psyence Fiction. The songs for Sexy Beast are more rock-oriented, Lavelle said through a spokesperson.

The film is directed by Jonathan Glaser, who also made the video for U.N.K.L.E.'s "Rabbit in Your Headlights" (RealAudio excerpt) single, which featured vocals by Radiohead singer Thom Yorke.

Mo Wax's catalog of seminal hip-hop records includes the two Headz compilations and albums by DJ Shadow and Japan's DJ Krush.
