Ex–Bay City Roller Sentenced

Derek Longmuir told to perform 300 community service hours for pornography he said was not his.

Former Bay City Rollers drummer Derek Longmuir was sentenced on Friday (March 24) to 300 hours of community service for possession of child pornography, according to wire reports. Longmuir, 48, told an Edinburgh, Scotland, court that the films, videos and photos found at his house belonged to an American friend, Reuters reported. The case followed, by two months, the release of '70s glam-rocker Gary Glitter from a British prison on child-porn charges. The Bay City Rollers were teen pop sensations in the mid-'70s, with their song "Saturday Night" topping the U.S. charts in 1975.
