DMX Misses Court Date

A failure-to-appear bench warrant was issued for the rapper.

Rapper DMX failed to appear in a Cheektowaga, N.Y., courtroom Wednesday to answer to drug and traffic violations that stem from a traffic stop there earlier this month. The 28-year-old rapper will have to appear in court on a bench warrant sometime next month, according to a court clerk in Cheektowaga. He was detained and issued the warrant Wednesday in Houston, following a stop on the current Cash Money-Ruff Ryders tour. The tour, which also features Juvenile, Eve, Lil' Wayne, the LOX and others, ends April 17 in San Diego. The Yonkers, N.Y.-bred performer has released three #1 albums in less than two years — It's Dark and Hell Is Hot, Flesh of My Flesh — Blood of My Blood (both 1998) and ... And Then there Was X (1999). His current single, "Party Up," is gaining popularity in clubs and on hip-hop radio. He also co-stars with Jet Li and singer Aaliyah in the just-released action film "Romeo Must Die."
