Garcia, Friends Jam On Pizza Tapes

An album of acoustic music by late Grateful Dead guitarist Jerry Garcia, mandolinist David Grisman and acoustic guitarist Tony Rice, The Pizza Tapes (April 25), captures a jam session among the three virtuosos recorded at Grisman's studio in 1993. According to legend, one of two copies of the original tape disappeared from Garcia's kitchen counter during a pizza delivery. The trio cover folk, jazz, blues and rock standards, including "Long Black Veil," "House of the Rising Sun," "Summertime," Miles Davis' "So What," Bob Dylan's "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" and "Rosa Lee McFall." The album is the fifth release of Garcia/Grisman music on Grisman's label, Acoustic Disc, since Garcia's death in 1995.
