Billy Bragg and Wilco's second volume of new music set to unrecorded lyrics by folk icon Woody Guthrie is set for a late May release, Elektra Records said. The disc follows the Grammy-nominated Mermaid Avenue (1998). Listeners can expect a more rock-oriented disc than the first collaboration. "Mermaid was a bit folkier," Bragg said in a statement. "It's really important that people understand that what we're doing has never been a project for the Woody Guthrie fanatic. You have to approach Woody in a different way. You aren't just doing the songs that fit the legend. You have to be a bit irreverent. After all, Woody Guthrie might have been the first alternative musician."
