Femi Kuti, son of late Afrobeat master Fela Kuti, is taking his band, Positive Force, his sax and his funk-laced African grooves on a North American tour this month. His debut album, Shoki Shoki, was released in the U.S. in February '99.

Former Throwing Muses singer/songwriter Kristin Hersh is on the road for a short U.S. tour with eccentric folk-rocker Vic Chesnutt. Her third solo album, Sky Motel, was released in July; his latest is 1998's The Salesman and Bernadette.
