Maurice White Suffering From Parkinson's

Earth, Wind & Fire bandleader and percussionist says condition was first diagnosed eight years ago.

Earth, Wind & Fire bandleader Maurice White disclosed through his publicist Wednesday (March 1) that he suffers from Parkinson's disease. The neurological disorder severely affects sufferers' motor skills and physical self-control. Boxing legend Muhammad Ali and actor Michael J. Fox also are afflicted with the condition. White revealed that he was first diagnosed with the disease eight years ago. "I finally got over being in denial for so many years and now I want to set the record straight," White was quoted as saying by the Associated Press. Earth, Wind & Fire, famous for a string of soul and disco hits in the 1970s, are scheduled to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 6.
