Rapper Mac was arrested and charged with first-degree murder Tuesday, in Baton Rouge, La., following a shooting early Monday at a Slidell, La., nightclub, according to James Hartman, a spokesperson for the St. Tammany Parish sheriff's office. Barron Victor Jr., 19, died at a local hospital after being shot in his upper-left side, during a dispute at Club Mercedes. The 22-year-old rapper, whose real name is McKinley Phipps, released the album World War III last year, on Master P's No Limit Records. Mac was scheduled to perform at the club event billed as the World War Party just minutes before allegedly shooting Victor, who was attempting to break up a fight, according to Hartman. Mac was arrested at his Baton Rouge home. Thirteen other men who were at the residence were brought in for questioning; one, Larnell Warren Jr., was arrested after lying to sheriff's deputies, Hartman said. Mac is being held without bail at St. Tammany Parish Jail.
