Blues Traveler, Little Feat To Cover Phish

Tracks to be included on tribute LP being compiled by the charitable Mockingbird Foundation.

Blues Traveler, Little Feat and other artists will contribute covers of Phish songs to a tribute album being compiled by the Mockingbird Foundation, a charitable organization formed by Phish fans, according to Ellis Godard, who heads the foundation. A full roster of contributors is expected to be announced next month. Other artists who've signed on to the project include DJ Logic, Merl Saunders and Lake Trout. Eclectic rockers Phish, who formed in Burlington, Vt., in 1983, are known for their lengthy in-concert jams. Blues Traveler, with their own snaky blues-rock solos, are often compared to Phish. Little Feat, who mix rock, folk and jazz strains, have built a devoted following through 30 years of touring. The album may be ready in time for a fall release, Godard said.
