Aimee Mann Nominated For Oscar

Randy Newman, Phil Collins also nominated for Best Original Song.

Singer/songwriter Aimee Mann received her first Academy Award nod Tuesday (Feb. 15) when her song "Save Me" — from the movie "Magnolia" — was nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Song. Competing against the ex–'Til Tuesday frontwoman will be singer/songwriter and 13-time nominee Randy Newman, whose "When She Loved Me" is in the animated "Toy Story 2"; former Genesis singer/drummer Phil Collins with "You'll Be in My Heart" (from "Tarzan"); veteran songwriter Diane Warren with "Music of My Heart" (from "Music of the Heart"); and Trey Parker and Marc Shaiman with "Blame Canada" (from "South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut"). The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences hosts the 72nd edition of the Oscars on March 26 in Los Angeles.
