Bill Graham Presents Gets New Name

Venerable concert company first promoted shows by Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendrix.

Famed concert promotion company Bill Graham Presents is changing its name to SFX Presents, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. The venerable company first made its name staging shows in San Francisco by acts such as the Grateful Dead and Jimi Hendrix. Founder Bill Graham went on to become the most famous promoter in the business, managing Carlos Santana and Van Morrison before dying in a 1991 helicopter crash. SFX, the nation's largest production company, bought Bill Graham Presents two years ago. An SFX spokesperson did not return calls for comment.
