Jimmy Page, Black Crowes, Collective Soul, Bon Jovi, Dave Grohl, Dr. Dre, Oasis, Eminem, Stooges, Jeff Bridges, Stone Temple Pilots ..., a Web search engine that points users to authorized music downloads from 50,000 artists, said Friday (Feb. 4) that it has received funding from all five major record companies. Universal (DMX, Beck), Time Warner (Kid Rock, Madonna), EMI (Beastie Boys, Smashing Pumpkins) and BMG (Santana, Backstreet Boys) placed recent investments, while Sony (Rage Against the Machine, Pearl Jam) invested in October. Terms of the funding were not disclosed. "BMG's partnership with reflects our desire to support those companies that are working to build a legitimate market for digitally delivered music," BMG Senior Vice President Kevin Conroy said in a statement.
