Combs Pleads Not Guilty

Rapper arraigned on weapons charges in New York.

Sean "Puffy" Combs pleaded not guilty Monday (Feb. 7) to weapons-possession charges stemming from his arrest after a triple shooting at a New York club on Dec. 27. The rapper and Bad Boy Entertainment label head, who was arraigned on the charges Monday, is due back in court Thursday, according to Sarah Frank, a spokesperson for Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau. He faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted. Prosecutors allege he fled Club New York after the shooting in a Lincoln Navigator sport-utility vehicle with two loaded guns inside, one of which prosecutors said was thrown out the window during a police chase. Rapper Jamal "Shyne" Barrow, a Combs protégé, has been charged with three counts of attempted murder in the shooting.
