Country star and aspiring baseball player Garth Brooks, who spent
part of training camp with the San Diego Padres last year, will train
with the New York Mets in the spring, according to the Associated
Press. Brooks signed a minor-league contract with the team, which
trains in Port St. Lucie, Fla. Brooks, who released a rock album, In
the Life of Chris Gaines, in the fall, batted .045 in 22 plate
appearances with the Padres during last year's exhibition season.
