Tom Jones Duets Getting U.S. Release

Singer pairs with Stereophonics, Cardigans, Pretenders on Reload.

An album on which Welsh pop crooner Tom Jones duets with bands

such as the Stereophonics, the Cardigans and the Pretenders

may be released in the U.S. this summer, according to V2 Records spokesperson

Sandy Sawotka. Reload, on which Jones and his guests tackle a

variety of covers, was released in Europe in September. Jones covers

Randy Newman's "Mama Told Me Not to Come" with the Stereophonics,

who also are Welsh. He and the Cardigans do Talking Heads' "Burning

Down the House," and the Pretenders join him for Iggy Pop's "Lust

for Life." Other artists on the European version of Reload include

Portishead, Natalie Imbruglia and Robbie Williams.

Sawotka said the U.S. version may have a different track list, with

collaborators more familiar to U.S. listeners.
