Seattle rockers plan first shows in more than a year to showcase latest work.

Seattle rockers the Screaming Trees will play their first shows

in more than a year Feb. 3–4 at the Viper Room in Los Angeles,

according to a representative for the band's management. The two gigs will

be industry showcases designed to give record executives a preview of the

band's new material. The Trees also are compiling a four-song demo to use

in shopping themselves to labels. Singer Mark Lanegan, bassist

Van Conner, guitarist Gary Lee Conner and drummer Barrett

Martin are working with producer Toby Wright (Korn,

Sevendust). Queens of the Stone Age guitarist Josh Homme

also has participated in the sessions, the representative said. The Trees'

most recent album was 1996's Dust.
