Guitarist Marty Friedman has left the metal band Megadeth
to pursue other interests after more than 10 years as a member, the band
announced Monday (Jan. 10). "Marty is an incredible player and has been
a keystone in Megadeth," bandleader Dave Mustaine said in a written
statement. "We are sorry to see him go, but we wish him all the best."
Megadeth released the album Risk, featuring the single "Crush 'Em,"
last fall. Al Pitrelli, who has played with shock-rocker Alice
Cooper, will replace Friedman as a touring member on the band's world
tour, which wraps up its first leg Jan. 21.
