Chili Peppers Welcome Y2K 'Easily'

Funk-rock band starts 2000 with jam and a song from Californication.

A hail of balloons fell on Red Hot Chili Peppers fans when the

clock struck midnight at the Great Western Forum in the band's hometown,

Los Angeles, on Friday (Dec. 31). Fans counted down the seconds to the

new year, prompted by a large screen behind the band that flashed numbers

starting from 30, a Peppers spokesperson said. The funk-rock group began

the new millennium by jamming on a James Brown song before moving

into "Easily," from the band's most recent album, Californication.
