Best Of '99: Woodstock – The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

SonicNet Music News followed the history-making festival with hour-by-hour coverage.

During the holiday season, SonicNet Music News is featuring a "Best of '99" series. We are using the occasion to look back at some of the year's best stories, as chosen by our writers and editors. The "Best of '99" series features one of 16 categories each day, through Jan. 2.

In this installment, we remember Woodstock '99.

The events of the three-day July festival ran the gamut from the insanely great to the unthinkably awful. Concert-goers came together in what temporarily became New York's third-largest city to witness incredible live performances, share stories and joints, and remove a damn lot of clothing. They endured blazing heat, suffered miserable sanitary conditions, scavenged for affordable food and, in the end, rioted against it all.
