Two Everclear Albums Due In 2000

First release, slated for April, was begun as solo disc for leader Art Alexakis.

Everclear will release two new albums next year, publicists for the rock band said Wednesday (Dec. 22). First up, with a release tentatively slated for April, is Songs From an American Movie, Volume I/Learning How to Smile, complete with horns, strings and keyboards. The recently completed disc originally was begun as singer/guitarist Art Alexakis' first solo album. In February the group will return to the studio to cut the rockier Songs From an American Movie Volume II/Good Time for a Bad Attitude. The albums "show two sides of the same coin," Alexakis said in a statement. "What we do is very poppy at times, and then there's a part of us that's very noisy."
