Singing Cowboy Rex Allen Dead At 77

One of Hollywood's last cowboy stars killed in car accident.

Rex Allen, one of Hollywood's last singing cowboys, was fatally

injured Friday (Dec. 17) in a car accident in Tucson, Ariz., Reuters

reported. Allen, 77, was standing in his driveway when a female friend

struck him while backing up a Cadillac. The singer died later at a hospital.

Allen starred in more than 20 cowboy pictures, most of them in the 1950s.

He's probably best recognized by younger audiences for his narration,

which was used in Walt Disney nature films in the '60s as well as in the

1973 animated film "Charlotte's Web."
