Mickey Gilley Reportedly Sued For Sexual Harassment

Country singer denies allegations.

Country singer Mickey Gilley is being sued for sexual harassment by a woman whose custodial service used to clean his theater in Branson, Mo., the Associated Press reported. In her lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court, Connie Sue Smith reportedly alleges that Gilley "continuously and consistently made sexual comments and remarks" to her and touched her "in a sexually offensive and improper manner." Smith claims she was fired after she reported her allegations. Gilley denied the accusations in a statement issued Thursday (Dec. 9). "It is impossible to describe the sense of disappointment that I feel right now," he said. "In my nearly 30 years as an entertainer, I have never, ever had anyone suggest that I would ever engage in this kind of behavior." He said that the janitorial service was fired because of unauthorized phone calls made from the theater.
