Quasi Hit The Road For Field Studies

Pop-rock duo will launch monthlong U.S. club tour Sunday in San Francisco.

Portland, Ore., pop-rock duo Quasi are launching a monthlong U.S. club tour in support of their latest album, Field Studies.

The tour is scheduled to begin Sunday in San Francisco and will end Nov. 12 in Seattle.

Quasi's new album, released in September, adds unusual instruments and unconventional recording techniques to the band's fuzzed-out pop on such songs as "The Golden Egg" (RealAudio excerpt).

Quasi's sole members are drummer Janet Weiss, who also plays with the punk trio Sleater-Kinney, and keyboardist/guitarist Sam Coomes.

In the past the pair have toured as the backing group for singer/songwriter Elliot Smith, who played in the defunct rock group Heatmiser with Coomes.
