Tori Amos To Follow Morissette Tour With One Of Her Own

Piano balladeer's headlining dates begin next week in Dallas.

Singer/songwriter Tori Amos will upgrade her touring status from co-star

to star next week when she and her band headline a string of Western

dates.

Once Amos' tour with fellow emotive pop star Alanis Morissette ends Sept.

26 with a show in Laguna Hills, Calif., she heads to the Starplex in

Dallas on Sept. 29, according to Atlantic Records, Amos' label. The

minitour from there will swing through Texas, Oregon, Washington, Idaho

and Utah before wrapping up at the Magness Arena in Denver on Oct. 11.

Amos' fifth LP, to venus and back, a double album with one studio

disc and one live disc, was released Tuesday. The live disc was recorded

on her 1998 tour and includes such songs as "Cornflake Girl" and "Little

Earthquakes." Amos is known for her deft piano work and aching vocals on

songs such as "Crucify" (RealAudio

excerpt) and "Hotel" (RealAudio

excerpt).

During a webcast on the eve of her tour with Morissette, Amos contrasted

that co-headlining bill with Woodstock '99, which ended with riots in

late July.

"People are into tearing things up. ... I'd rather be loving it up with

somebody," she said. "[Our tour] is about yeah. It's about hot."
