Amazon.com Reportedly Entering Download Business

Amazon.com reportedly will jump feet first into the business of selling

downloadable music next year. The online retailer — best known for

selling books and CDs — may offer a few tracks by year's end, but

will put a strong push behind digital sales in 2000, the general manager

of Amazon's music store, Jennifer Cast, was quoted as saying by Reuters.

Amazon already offers free, promotional songs for download by artists

such as Sarah McLachlan, Creed and Stereolab.
