U2 singer Bono and Fugees rapper Wyclef Jean performed their song "New Day" together Wednesday night (Sept. 8) during a benefit show at the New York club Copacabana. They also did a loose rendition of Parliament's funk classic "Give Up the Funk (Tear the Roof off the Sucker)" with Parliament leader George Clinton and singer/songwriter Joan Osborne, according to Caron Veazey, whose marketing firm, Carovan, helped promote the show. Bono and Wyclef wrote and recorded "New Day" as the official song of the NetAid charity effort, which is scheduled to include three concerts in three countries Oct. 9. Wednesday night's show was a $1,000-dollar-a-plate benefit gala for the Wyclef Jean Foundation.
