Smithsonian To Salute Hank Williams

The Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C., will salute the late

Hank Williams in its first-ever country music symposium. The

weekend seminar, "A Tribute to Hank Williams," will begin Sept. 24 with

performances by country singers Lucinda Williams, Steve Earle,

Kim Richey and Kathy Mattea. They'll perform Williams songs

and join scholars, critics and family members in discussing the life,

career and legacy of the pioneering honky-tonk singer, whose songs

included "Your Cheatin' Heart," "Hey, Good Lookin' " and "Jambalaya

(on the Bayou)."
