Old-hand indie-rockers Pavement will start their second U.S. tour in
support of Terror Twilight by saluting their longtime label.
The group, which toured the U.S. this summer, will launch the 20-date
outing by headlining the second night of Matador Records' 10th birthday
celebration in New York. The Sept. 24 show will also feature Cat Power,
Chavez and other Matador bands.
Pavement will then head down the East Coast, across the South and into
California before wrapping up in the Midwest on Oct. 16.
The band, known for its ironic distance, takes a more earnest approach
on Terror Twilight (1999), its fifth studio album, which includes
the single "Spit on a Stranger" (RealAudio
"We're very unguarded on this record with the voice," singer/guitarist
Steve Malkmus, 33, said shortly before the album's June release. "It's
not [about] ironic love songs."
