Singer/songwriter Sheryl Crow will be joined by a prominent
group of rock-star friends for a free concert Sept. 14 in New York's
Central Park. A spokesperson for the concert's sponsor, American
Express, on Tuesday (Sept. 7) confirmed the appearance only of Eric
Clapton, but David Bowie, Sarah McLachlan,
Pretenders singer Chrissie Hynde and Fleetwood Mac
singer Stevie Nicks also will perform, according to an American
Express advertisement. The show, billed as "Sheryl Crow and Friends,"
will be shown live on Fox television and also webcast and broadcast on
various radio stations, according to the spokesperson. American Express
will distribute free tickets in advance.
