Bosstones Singer Set For Sandman Tribute

Late Morphine frontman to be honored by musicians who played with his band.

Billy Conway and Dana Colley of Morphine, Dickie Barrett of the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Chris Ballew of the Presidents of the United States of America and John Medeski of Medeski, Martin & Wood are among the acts scheduled for a tribute concert to late Morphine frontman Mark Sandman. The show, which will be held Sunday (July 25) outside the Boston club the Middle East, will consist mostly of songs written by Sandman, who died of an apparent heart attack July 3 while onstage in Palestrina, Italy. During the show the club will display a video installation of archival footage from Sandman's career, according to a statement from organizers. Concert-goers can make donations to the newly established Mark Sandman Music Education Fund, which will aid music education in Cambridge, Mass., public schools.
