Police in Orange, Calif., say they have just a single lead in the case of instruments stolen from Sonic Youth, and information on that tip may not become available until Thursday (July 15). Detective Clark Smith said Monday he filed a court request with America Online Thursday for information pertaining to a lead tied to the Internet service provider. AOL is expected to take a week to fulfill the request, he said. A rental truck containing dozens of the experimental rock band's customized instruments was stolen July 4 in Orange. The vehicle turned up empty in downtown Los Angeles last week.
