Police Criticize Mötley Crüe For Lewdness

Hard-rockers Mötley Crüe may face criminal charges in Columbia, Md., after a performance Tuesday (June 29) at the Merriweather Post Pavilion during which police said two female dancers stripped onstage and simulated sex with a dildo. No arrests were made, but Sgt. Morris Carroll of the Howard County Police Department said Friday (July 2) that officers may pursue charges against the band and dancers. "The thing that was most annoying is that there were kids in the audience and it was all played out on the big screen," said Carroll, who added that the lewdness took place while the band played "Same Ol' Situation." Mötley Crüe's publicist was unavailable for comment Friday. Police, who approve all performance permits, will "closely scrutinize" the Crüe's application if they ever come to town again, Carroll said.
