Universal Music Group, whose stable of artists includes DMX, Marilyn Manson, U2 and Shania Twain, is expected to announce plans Tuesday (May 4) to sell music by digital download later this year, according to the Wall Street Journal. The corporation is said to have forged a partnership with InterTrust Technologies, a company that makes software for the delivery and protection of data online. A pilot program reportedly will begin by year's end, with a full system expected to be in place next year.
