On Wednesday (April 28), a day declared "Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
Day" by the city of Los Angeles, the frontman and his group showed up
on Hollywood Boulevard, where they were honored with a star on the
Hollywood Walk of Fame. "We used to walk up and down this street and
look at the stars and never dreamed we would ever have one," Petty said,
according to several fans who attended the event. The singer also spoke
of having a "love affair" with Hollywood. The group's star is next to
the fabled Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, at the corner of Orange Avenue.
