David Bowie To Give Commencement Speech

Chameleon-like rocker David Bowie will be the principal speaker

at Berklee College of Music's commencement ceremony in May. Bowie will

receive an honorary doctor of music degree from the prestigious,

Boston-based music school and will address more than 600 graduates and

3,000 guests, according to a statement from the school. The ceremony,

which also will feature a speech by jazz saxophonist Wayne Shorter,

is scheduled to take place May 8 at the Hynes Convention Center in

Boston. Bowie, known for such classic albums as The Rise and Fall of

Ziggy Stardust & the Spiders From Mars (1972), most recently released

the electronica-infused Earthling in 1997.
